Huge fan of Skream, one of the early pioneers of the UK Dubstep scene. His latest, Outside the Box, is a frequent play and, would you know it, my favorite track from the record has a really neat video:
From Playground Magazine (http://playgroundmag.net/unmedia/19547-skream)
Ever since Magnetic Man started, it seemed like Skream had put his solo projects in the fridge, especially the promotion for his latest album, which was going on around the same time as the propaganda for the dubstep super trio’s effort. If you’re more into Skream’s solo stuff, today is your day. Oliver Jones recovers the wake of his second album,“Outside The Boxâ€, and he does so presenting a news single and video. It’s “Where You Should Beâ€, and it’s directed by Carl Burgess, who last summer made one of the most original videos of 2010 for Ratatat’s “Drugsâ€. On 16th May, Tempa will release the single of “Where You Should Be†with remixes by Laiback Luke, T. Williams and Zed Bias, among others. In the meantime, here’s where you should be, enjoying this wind tunnel.
Dorian Concept is one of the newer artists I’ve heard from the Ninja Tune label. Here’s a “preview edit” of a track which will be available on the Ninja Tune XX Box Set:
Dorian Concept – ‘Her Tears Taste Like Pears’ (PREVIEW EDIT) by Ninja Tune XX
At only 18 years of age this Manchester-based producer has been churning out his genre-smashing dubstep experiments at such an alarming rate that he was already able to give away a Volume 1 compilation of his tracks in December last year. Numan’s eagerness to explore, experiment and invert the expectations of a Dubstep producer are going a long way to keeping the scene fresh; something that didn’t go unoticed last year when Planet Mu, advocates of the abstract in all things bassy released his first EP. While yearly lists subconsiously coerce us into faithwhether obsessions with artists, Numan is one who requires us to check back on ourselves. Fact declared him to be one of their ten producers to watch in 2010 but considering the fruits of last year’s labour he’s a guy not to take your eyes off in 2011. He hasn’t even started djing out yet and considering the livliness of his OM mix that’s something we’ve all got to look forward to.

Kaskade has been making really good Dance and Prog House for a long, long time. First heard of the guy when he opened for BT in SLC years ago and have been a fan ever since. This just hit the SoundCloud and I must share it with you because you can even download this track (if you’re lucky):
Kaskade VS. Tiesto, Hardwell, EDX & Marco V. – Angel On My Shoulder Reaver 76 (Kaskade Mash Up) by Kaskade
I’ve been a fan of the FK5 material I’ve heard, and artists on their label, Fort Knox Recordings, like the Empressarios. They do some tasty remixes also, and here’s one for you:
Fort Knox Five – Hipster Run Tings (DC’s FINEST REMINT) by fortknoxfive
I’ve been a fan of Numan’s stuff for a while, since hearing his Numan Vol. 1 release on the web. Now he’s got a new track on SoundCloud:
Cool video for this guy, whose album Complex Housing, I’ve been LOVING:
He was also featured on the exclusive XLR8R podcast, and you can listen to it HERE.
I HIGHLY recommend subscribing to the XLR8R podcast for the other artists they’ve featured also. Fantastic stuff.
Video for their single Rockit Man:
It’s St. Patrick’s Day and Spring Break. This means that there are a lot of things going on, and that the SUB is closing early. As much as I love doing the show, I don’t know that I’ll be keen on sitting around, waiting for that appointed hour to get going.
All may not be lost, however, and there may be a UStream version or something to look forward to. Stay tuned!
